Silverado Engine Defect Class Action

About the class action

A class action has been launched against GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) and its parent company, General Motors, on behalf of certain Silverado 1500 owners in Australia.

The claim alleges that engines in some 2020-2024 Silverado 1500 vehicles fitted with the L87 6.2L V8 petrol engine were defective in manufacture, leading to serious engine problems and, in some cases, complete engine failure.

This class action seeks compensation on behalf of group members, including for:

  • Loss of vehicle value;
  • Out-of-pocket repair costs;
  • Extended warranty protection, and
  • A free replacement engine.

You can register your interest if:

  • You own or previously owned a 2020-2024 Silverado 1500
  • You purchased or leased the vehicle in Australia (new or used)
  • Your vehicle is fitted with the L87 6.2L V8 petrol engine

You may still be eligible to register your interest even if you haven’t had engine issues, or if your engine has already been repaired or replaced (including under warranty).
